Today during our lesson we watched the opening sequence for a film called "Rain Man" whilst the opening sequence was playing our teacher played three different types of music which were not the music which was used for the film, while this was playing we were given the feeling that the film was either a romance or fantasy when it should really sound like a drama also the fact it was only music playing there was no background noise (foley).
After watching this opening sequence with different music being played in the background we listened to it with the actual music which seemed to fit in much more as there was foley and the music went with what was happening on screen also gave the feel of a Drama which the film actually is.
This excersise let me know just how important sound is in a film because whilst making our teaser trailer we do not want to give the audience the idea we are making a comedy or a fantasy when infact we are making a Psychological Thriller so we have to carefully pick and chose the sound and music we will use and to avoid having the wrong sounds we will make our own music.
